A Witness of the Winter Solstice
The longest night of the year is the closest to darkness that we get, it is a universal time for introspection and stillness. Darkness is where life is born. Where dreams happen. Where energetic imagination lives. Each of us grew in the dark until we were ready to be born, and seeds are growing deep inside the earth right now, preparing to become the fullness of who they will be. It’s in the dark that we conjure visions for the world we need to create. And the earth teaches that no matter how dark it gets, the light will always return, because after the longest night, comes the dawn of a longer day.

LEADER
And the summer became the fall
I was not ready for the winter
TOGETHER
It makes no difference at all
'Cause I wear boots all summer long
LEADER
My eye makeup, dark, and it's careless
Same circles around my eyes
TOGETHER
Sometimes the real color of my skin
My eyes, without any shadow
LEADER
And when I call, will you walk gently through my shadow?
The ones who sing at night
TOGETHER
The ones who sing at night
The ones you dream of, the ones who walk away
With their capes pulled around them tight
Crying for the night
Cry for the nightbird tonight

LEADER
The winter's really here now
And the blankets that I love
TOGETHER
Sometimes I am surrounded by too much love
And when I call, will you walk gently through my shadow?
The ones who sing at night
LEADER
The ones who sing at night
The ones you dream of, the ones who walk away
With their capes pulled around them tight
Crying for the night
Cry for the nightbird tonight
TOGETHER
And the darkened eyes, through the net of the lace
In the darkness, it's hard to see her face
Pulls back the net
And you feel the touch of her fingers
And you see she turns the eyes
And you see the eyes of a nightbird
The ones you dream of
Finally the night bird
Finally the night bird
Tonight

Reflect - Release - Let go
The winter solstice is considered the seasonal dark night of the soul. Spiritually, it’s a time to honor both the light and the darkness that resides within each of us. Use the paper we provided and write down the things that you would like to let go of. We will collect them then throw them in the (metaphorical) yule log fire, transforming darkness into light.

Landslide
I took my love, I took it down
I climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
'Til the landslide brought me down
Oh, mirror in the sky
What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I'm getting older too
Oh! I'm getting older too
Oh-oh, take my love, take it down
Oh-oh, climb a mountain and you turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
Oh-ohh, the landslide bring it down
